Printing

This half term we have used Rousseau's painting 'Surprise' as a stimulus to print our own wrapping paper.

We began with looking at his work, finding out about his career and then reproducing his famous painting.

Using the leaves as a focus, we then collected and sketched leaves and then used leaf rubbings to look at the detail.

We then used an initial sketch to design and make a printing block. As we had the choice of three mediums (paint, acrylic paint and ink) we investigated which worked the best and would be the most effective when making our wrapping paper.

Finally we looked at designs, thinking about sequence and the use of colour.

After evaluating our finished product, we will be able to take it home...and use it!
